To hell with it

Sat Mar 17, 2007, 10:22 AM
In the immortal words of my hero Popeye the Sailor, "I've had alls I can stands, and I can't stands no more!"

For the past week... no, even longer than that, AIM has been on again/off again giving me hell by constantingly fouling up and shutting down on my at the most inopportune moments, and it's just recently gotten to the point where I can't even start the damn program without it locking up on me. I've tried to download the new version, but my computer isn't powerful enough to run it. I've tried running express, but it simply won't load. Hell, I've even gone as far as trying to download Trillian, but for some strange reason it keeps screwing up in the middle of the download and saying it's finished when it's not even halfway completed.

So now, suffice to say, I've had it, I'm done. Until the day comes when I can finally afford a new (or newer than I've got) computer, I'm not going to log onto AIM anymore. For now, I'll be reachable only on Yahoo! Instant Messenger, but don't worry, my username is the same, it's only the program that's different.

And as for AIM, you and AOL/Time Warner can bite my fat white cellulite-filled ass!

Guess I'll have to download Yahoo! soon, heheh. It's a real bummer that AIM is being a total bitch to your computer, bro. :(

That same kind of thing happened to my AIM when on my old laptop. What I did to combat it was download AdAware, run a smart system scan (or a full one, at least the first time) before signing on, then trying AIM again. It worked for me, since the problems were all spyware/adware/coolwebsearch related; those damn leeches would overload AIM and force the infamous "This program has performed an illegal operation and must be shut down" box to pop up. Give it a try, why not.
admit it...you computer just doesn't like you. ^^

Sounds like you have a problem with your PC, not AIM, Trillian, or the programs your trying to run. Possibly try doing a antivirus or adware scan, and if all else fails, possibly do a fresh install of Windows (or use your PCs restore discs if its a OEM PC such as a Dell, Gateway, HP, etc. ). Because having all this happen is definitely not normal at all >_<.
Holy shit, you read my mind. I've been having the same problem, but unfortunately my computer doesn't work well enough to download even YIM, so I just have to put up with it. That and find random chatrooms no one uses and invite people to them. ;)
